Oh, procrastination.... it's amazing what you'll do

Thanksgiving break... is over. And I'm really glad I'm back at Furman. Christmas break is looming. Isn't that an odd word to use for Christmas break? But I'm not really looking forward to it that much. There are certain things that will be fun, yes. But certain people... well, ok, let's be honest, a certain person will be decidedly absent for an extended period of time and I'm not a fan of that. Nope. Not at all, actually. So even though I have two papers to write, a presentation to prepare for, exams coming up soon, two concerts for which to memorize music, and an opera to learn, I'm really glad I'm here.

The break was fun, for the most part. Stressful. What does it say about me that interpersonal relationships stress me out more than all of the school stuff listed above? =/ Seriously, though? Meeting the parents was like a comedy of errors. Everything went wrong; I'll be lucky if they liked me at all, much less as "the girlfriend." Ah well. At least it's over, and perhaps later I'll laugh about it. ...Oh, who am I kidding, I'm laughing about it now... it's hilarious, in a really terrible way. I think Bounds and I may really have to write a script and try to sell it, it would make a really good movie. =) I won't go into details because they are devastatingly embarrassing, plus if the movie comes out you wouldn't want to know what happens, but suffice it to say that the adventures began with me having to wear his mother's pajamas, as I had forgotten my own.

Go ahead. Laugh it up.

Oi.

Then Thanksgiving with family, blah blah blah, and now I'm back. Hooray!

And Kim's coming to visit me this weekend probably I hope I hope I hope!

And... well, I put off doing this for as long as I could, but it appears as though it will make an excellent tool for procrastination so here we go.

1. Have you ever been searched by the cops?
not like the regular cops, just the silly security people at airports and stuff. apparently I'm a suspicious looking person because I always get pulled aside for the more detailed patting-down-type searches. weird.

2. Do you close your eyes on rollercoasters?
are you kidding? I don't go on rollercoasters at all, ever. and if I did I think I would have to close my eyes.

3. When's the last time you've been sleigh riding?
ummm....it's on my to-do list. no, seriously, I would love to ride around in a sleigh. but I think you need snow for that and so I would have to go somewhere other than Greenville, I believe.

4. Would you rather sleep with someone else, or alone?
I like company. =)

5. Do you believe in Ghosts?
not the scary kind, but yes, I do

6. Do you consider yourself creative?
at times

7. Do you think O.J. killed his wife?
oh, seriously, people, drop it

8. Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie?
Jennifer always gets my vote. she's prettier AND a better actress. honestly, Angelina looks like she's on drugs, her lips are scary, her boobs won't last very long (naturally, anyway), she's an awful actress and obviously not a very nice person either.... so what is the attraction??

9. Can you honestly say you know anything about politics?
not as much as some, of course, but yes I think I can discuss politics intelligently.

10. Do you know how to play poker?
apparently not, since I lost embarrassingly at strip poker last spring. perhaps I should learn before trying that again.

11. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight?
if not more

12. Do you kill bugs that are in the house?
um, yes.

13. Have you ever cheated on a test?
if I said no, would you really believe me?

14. If you're driving in the middle of the night, and no one is around..do you go through red lights?
I did once and totally freaked myself out because there was a car right around the corner and I thought it was a cop.... so now I have kind of a complex about it

15. Do you have a secret that no one knows but you?
yes, indeed

16. Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees?
Yankees, for the most part, but I was really glad the Sox beat them. yay underdogs!

17. Have you ever Ice Skated?
not very well... as I recall, I needed a big strong boy on either side and even they couldn't always keep me from falling on my ass

18. How often do you remember your dreams?
when they're fun. =) ....or scary...

19. When was the last time you laughed so hard you were crying?
wow, probably telling Suzie about Thanksgiving break... I didn't sob or anything, but both of us teared up =)

20. Can you name 5 songs by The Beatles?
I can name a lot more than that

21. Do you believe in miracles?
if I didn't I think I would go insane.... also, I would freak out a lot more when I have to write a really long paper in a really short amount of time

22. Do you believe in love at first sight?
no. I believe that attraction or interest at first sight can lead to lasting love, but I don't think there's anything magical about that first glance. .... besides, nobody puts that much stock in first impressions, right? ....right?????? =/

23. Do you know who Ba-Ba-Booey is?
ummmm...I would say yes, but really it means no.

24. Do you always wear your seatbelt?
I do indeed.

25. What talent do you wish you had?
um, there are kind of a lot.... I wish I were athletic, I wish I could play piano and guitar, I wish I were better at school........

26. Do you like Sushi?
ew.

27. Have you ever narrowly avoided a fatal accident?
Yes. I believe the FUtones girls decided that whenever you live through driving around Greenville you have, in fact, narrowly avoided death.

28. What do you wear to bed?
pj pants or shorts and a sweatshirt

29. Have you ever been caught stealing?
no....

30. Does size matter?
depends on what we're talking about. lots of things matter more, though.

31. Do you truly hate anyone?
no, I don't think I do.... wow, that's nice to know

32. Rock and Roll or Rap?
um... showtunes? ..haha, i'm such a dork.

33. If you could sleep with one famous person, who would it be?
maybe Johnny Depp.... or Adam Pascal.... except they're both attached and I really wouldn't want to do that. which makes this rather difficult... all the good ones are taken or dead.

34. Do you have a relative in prison?
I don't think so. not anyone we acknowledge, anyway. =)

35. Have you ever sang in front of the mirror like your favorite singer?
um, no. but I have sung into scissors like... well, like somebody I'm sure

36. Do you know how to play chess?
yep

37. What food do you find disgusting?
tomatoes, mushrooms, ummm....

38. Did you ever play doctor?
no..... although I suppose I'm getting to the point where that's going to be fun again ;)

39. Have you ever made fun of your friends behind their back?
no, they're always standing right there with me =)

40. Have you ever stood up for someone you hardly knew?
yeah, I have

41. Have you ever been punched in the face?
not really punched... but I have two little brothers, what're you gonna do?

42. When is the last time you threw up from drinking to much?
May

43. Have you ever walked out on a movie at the theater?
no, but I have walked out on a play before

44. Do you ever sit through a bad movie, just to see how bad it can get?
if I'm sitting through a bad movie I'd better be sitting through it with someone who will keep me entertained....

45. Would you consider yourself obsessed with anything?
uh, yeah. a lot, actually.

46. Have you ever met someone famous that you really wanted to meet?
Adam Pascal... *swoons*

47. Have you ever been stood up?
not actually stood up as in waiting for someone who never came.... but I have been cancelled on more times than I'd like to think about, really.

48. When's the last time you screamed at the top of your lungs?
ummmm.... quite possibly at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. (I am a huge dork.)

49. Did you ever do something that you didn't want to, just to fit in?
yeah, I guess.... nothing too drastic though

50. Do you consider yourself "the biggest fan" of something?
The "truest fan" is probably more accurate

Well, so it's been a while since my last post... and there are... shall we say... developments. =)

My birthday was lovely, thanks largely to Bounds. It sort of turned into a birthday weekend rather than just the one day, which was fun. And then Halloween was excellent, mostly because as of Halloween I'm no longer single. =) So yes. Developments.

The weekend after my birthday was the weekend the Madrigals went to RenFest. We had such a good time... I need to post some pictures on here when I get the chance/think about it. We spent all day on Saturday wandering around the Renaissance Festival and hanging out with each other, and I think it was really helpful in getting some friendships started. The one thing that frustrates me about Madrigals is the lack of comraderie that we have. Especially as compared to FUtones. The FUtones are so close... we walk into rehearsals and there are hugs all around, and everyone is concerned about everyone else's lives, and we have long conversations on the FirstClass forum about nothing at all, and we're just all friends. And Madrigals feels much more uptight and structured than that. We walk into rehearsals and yeah, people talk to each other, but it's mostly to the people that they knew before Madrigals, so there are a couple of people who are just always really quiet. And there are rarely hugs. And I, at least, am concerned about everyone's lives, especially some of the girls that always come in looking tired and stressed and upset... but we're just not good enough friends for me to actually talk to them about stuff. I guess part of my frustration with it comes from how much I miss my group of girls back home... we were so close, and it was so nice to have that network of girls to fall back on, and I don't have that here. I keep looking for it, but it's pretty elusive. And part of me had hoped to form that kind of bond with the Madrigal girls, but it's not happening. I know it takes time, but I'm lonely for girl company... *sigh* Oh well. At least I'll see some of my girls over Thanksgiving break (home tomorrow!!!! yay!!!).

Anyway, the COOLEST part about RenFest day (for me, anyway) was when we got to my house, where we were going to crash that night. Bounds and Karen had organized a surprise party for, again, my birthday. The Madrigals that went to my house all knew about it, my mom and brothers had been in on it, and Bounds got Karen, Zaruba, Emily, Suzie, and Kim to all come to my house that night and surprise me. It was amazing. No one has ever done anything like that for me and it made me so unbelievably happy. Especially to see people like Emily and Suzie and Kim, whom I hadn't seen since the summer. Ahhh, it was so cool. =)

So we're almost to Thanksgiving Break. Bounds and I leave for Greensboro tomorrow after I get out of the RA office. We're going to go by Lucky's Pet Resort at some point... maybe right when we get into town, if we can make good time. Then we're going to make dinner, and Kim's coming over for tacos and hanging out and stuff, and it'll be excellent Latverian fun. I can't wait. =) The whole break is just going to be awesome. See, look:

Friday, Nov 18 -- HOME, dinner and stuff with Bounds and Kim and Mom and maybe other fun people
Saturday, Nov 19 -- maybe seeing Zaruba (squared?), Wizard of Oz, Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert
Sunday, Nov 20 -- Church with Mom, drive to Maryland to meet the parents (!!!!!!!)
Monday, Nov 21 -- Baltimore, or maybe DC
Tuesday, Nov 22 -- DC, or maybe Baltimore =)
Wednesday, Nov 23 -- drive to Danville to visit the grandparents
Thursday, Nov 24 -- you can't go wrong with Thanksgiving
Friday, Nov 25 -- home again, home again... and the debutante grandmother's tea
Saturday, Nov 26 -- a day at the spa, courtesy of the debutante people =)
Sunday, Nov 27 -- church, then back to Furman....

Busy, don't know when I'm going to get any of the work done that I have GOT to do over the break, but it's going to be SO MUCH FUN.

Wow, I've written a book... time to come up for air. I'll try to update again soon. I think I might give in to the survey temptation, Kim had a fun-looking one in her livejournal that I'll probably use as a procrastination tool sometime in the near future. Yes! Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow.....
