Well, so it's been a while since my last post... and there are... shall we say... developments. =)

My birthday was lovely, thanks largely to Bounds. It sort of turned into a birthday weekend rather than just the one day, which was fun. And then Halloween was excellent, mostly because as of Halloween I'm no longer single. =) So yes. Developments.

The weekend after my birthday was the weekend the Madrigals went to RenFest. We had such a good time... I need to post some pictures on here when I get the chance/think about it. We spent all day on Saturday wandering around the Renaissance Festival and hanging out with each other, and I think it was really helpful in getting some friendships started. The one thing that frustrates me about Madrigals is the lack of comraderie that we have. Especially as compared to FUtones. The FUtones are so close... we walk into rehearsals and there are hugs all around, and everyone is concerned about everyone else's lives, and we have long conversations on the FirstClass forum about nothing at all, and we're just all friends. And Madrigals feels much more uptight and structured than that. We walk into rehearsals and yeah, people talk to each other, but it's mostly to the people that they knew before Madrigals, so there are a couple of people who are just always really quiet. And there are rarely hugs. And I, at least, am concerned about everyone's lives, especially some of the girls that always come in looking tired and stressed and upset... but we're just not good enough friends for me to actually talk to them about stuff. I guess part of my frustration with it comes from how much I miss my group of girls back home... we were so close, and it was so nice to have that network of girls to fall back on, and I don't have that here. I keep looking for it, but it's pretty elusive. And part of me had hoped to form that kind of bond with the Madrigal girls, but it's not happening. I know it takes time, but I'm lonely for girl company... *sigh* Oh well. At least I'll see some of my girls over Thanksgiving break (home tomorrow!!!! yay!!!).

Anyway, the COOLEST part about RenFest day (for me, anyway) was when we got to my house, where we were going to crash that night. Bounds and Karen had organized a surprise party for, again, my birthday. The Madrigals that went to my house all knew about it, my mom and brothers had been in on it, and Bounds got Karen, Zaruba, Emily, Suzie, and Kim to all come to my house that night and surprise me. It was amazing. No one has ever done anything like that for me and it made me so unbelievably happy. Especially to see people like Emily and Suzie and Kim, whom I hadn't seen since the summer. Ahhh, it was so cool. =)

So we're almost to Thanksgiving Break. Bounds and I leave for Greensboro tomorrow after I get out of the RA office. We're going to go by Lucky's Pet Resort at some point... maybe right when we get into town, if we can make good time. Then we're going to make dinner, and Kim's coming over for tacos and hanging out and stuff, and it'll be excellent Latverian fun. I can't wait. =) The whole break is just going to be awesome. See, look:

Friday, Nov 18 -- HOME, dinner and stuff with Bounds and Kim and Mom and maybe other fun people
Saturday, Nov 19 -- maybe seeing Zaruba (squared?), Wizard of Oz, Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert
Sunday, Nov 20 -- Church with Mom, drive to Maryland to meet the parents (!!!!!!!)
Monday, Nov 21 -- Baltimore, or maybe DC
Tuesday, Nov 22 -- DC, or maybe Baltimore =)
Wednesday, Nov 23 -- drive to Danville to visit the grandparents
Thursday, Nov 24 -- you can't go wrong with Thanksgiving
Friday, Nov 25 -- home again, home again... and the debutante grandmother's tea
Saturday, Nov 26 -- a day at the spa, courtesy of the debutante people =)
Sunday, Nov 27 -- church, then back to Furman....

Busy, don't know when I'm going to get any of the work done that I have GOT to do over the break, but it's going to be SO MUCH FUN.

Wow, I've written a book... time to come up for air. I'll try to update again soon. I think I might give in to the survey temptation, Kim had a fun-looking one in her livejournal that I'll probably use as a procrastination tool sometime in the near future. Yes! Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow.....
